Job Description

The Consulting Applications Engineer will be an essential technical resource for the field sales force, and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation, design, and quotation stage of the sales process for simple to complex residential electrical power distribution projects. The Consulting Applications Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners throughout the sales cycle. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Work in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate to develop complex technical solutions using Leviton’s broad portfolio of residential electrical products
  2. Use intimate knowledge of electrical system design and code requirements to assist the sales force in providing product offerings     
  3. Interpret customer specifications to identify and document design packages, bills of materials, and quotations
  4. Provide design and specification development support to consultants, contractors, and distributors
  5. Respond to functional and technical elements of RFQs/RFPs
  6. Perform technical product training and maintain accurate records of target accounts and opportunities
  7. Attend job site and other customer meetings to represent Leviton when necessary 
  8. Communicate with factory, product engineers and others on schedule, quality issues and customer complaints
  9. Provide assistance with resolution of customer issues 
  10. Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts
  11. Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent 
  • Ten years working experience in an electrical power distribution system design environment
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical Codes & Standards  
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineered plans, and electrical specifications
  • Experience with BIM drawings 

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation 
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with customers that lead to the sale of assigned products
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists
  • Must have the ability to work in a highly confidential work environment, and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Strong mathematically, analytical and computer skills

 

Travel:

  • Up to 25% travel
