Facilities Management 3 (Manager of Facility Automation Services)
The Energy and Engineering Division of the Office of Physical Plant is seeking a manager for the Facility Automation Services (FAS) Department. This department has several main functions, including Application Engineering, Building Automation Monitoring, Utility and Security Network Operations and Performance, Building Automation Commissioning and Support, and Enterprise Utility Management System maintenance and utilization. Services are offered to the University Park Campus and, as we have the ability, to the commonwealth locations as well. FAS manages a complex network of computerized systems, valued at over $150 million, for efficient and reliable building environmental control. Proper control and maintenance is required to support activity in research labs, offices, administration areas, museums and classrooms. There is a great potential for financial loss, personal injury or liability to the University if these systems should fail. The department also has a significant impact on energy, maintenance and project costs. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Management or related discipline or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Professional Engineer license is preferred. A knowledge and understanding of the HVAC, building automation and IT networking fields is required. The candidate must be an independent thinker and leader that is self-motivated and has the ability to motivate those reporting to him. Goal development, project management, financial planning and budgeting are skills required for this position. Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. The individual must possess a visionary thinking mindset. Master planning skills are necessary to plan for the future of the department beyond what is immediately known as this is an expanding field. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job responsibilities. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to a standard background checks.
