Maintenance Mechanic B
Perform ordinary carpentry work such as repairing floors, woodwork, doors, etc.; assist higher grade mechanic by performing such things as building partitions, cabinets, benches, installing paneling, vinyl/wallpaper hanging, etc. Perform routine repairs to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment such as changing washers, changing faucets, repairing flush valves, replacing ballasts, outlets, switches, etc. Perform interior and exterior maintenance painting. Assist higher grade mechanic in more complex maintenance and repairs. Maintain inventory of tools and supplies; request reordering as required. Receive and issue materials and supplies; check items received against delivery slips; report damages to supervisor. Operate tractor, snow removal and grass mowing equipment. Operate and perform minor maintenance on hand and power tools, and power equipment such as lawn mowers, lawn and garden tractors, emergency generators, etc. by adjusting or replacing plugs, adjusting carburetor and distributor, adjusting or replacing belts, etc. Sweep, scrub, mop and wax floors; clean walls and ceilings; wash windows; operate power cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, etc. Collect disposable materials and place in collection containers; report defective or broken equipment to supervisor. Replace burned out light bulbs; clean fixtures. Lock doors and windows and secure buildings as instructed. Operate University vehicle. Check campus heating equipment (oil, gas or electric) for proper operation. Check boilers for water level. Make minor adjustments and clean as requested.
Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Over 1 up to and including 2 years of effective experience. 1:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
