Position Description
CGI is seeking an experienced Data Architect with experience in Medicaid and Healthcare payer environments and for an exciting new Health IT project in Richmond, VA. Your future duties and responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Data Architect is to create and maintain the data standards for the MES environment. CGI’s solution approach for data standards relies on reuse of existing standards (HIPAA X12) and the data models being implemented by other MES vendors where standards do not exist, such as Provider data. The Data Architect must be an expert on healthcare formats (X12), healthcare associated data elements (Procedure codes, Diagnosis codes, AID category, etc.) and demonstrate specificity in writing data definitions. In addition, the Data Architect must be detailed oriented and have excellent communication skills.

This role is augmented by a number of other positions within the CGI team; including Senior/Junior Business Analysts and integration developers. In addition, the Enterprise Architect and the Application Architect are involved in the creation and the governance of the data standards. Creation of and changes to the standards will not occur without going through the Architectural Review Board (ARB) for approval. In between ARB meetings, the Data Architect will be responsible for overall data management (e.g. source-of-truth concepts), data dictionary, defining a standard XML schemas, communicating with integration developers and numerous other activities.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
10+ years of experience

• Healthcare background/experience (10+ years between Medicaid and commercial payer)
o Expert with EDI X12 standards such as 837 claims, 270 eligibility requests, and other standard transactions
o In-depth understanding of basic healthcare data elements such as Procedure codes, Diagnosis codes, Attending Physician, etc.

• Strong communication skills
o Demonstrated ability to facilitate data requirement meetings with other MES vendors and DMAS
o Excellent writing abilities; position responsible for quality of a very complex data dictionary (Jr. BAs will assist in this area, but the Data Analyst is the lead)

• Technical Skills
o Capable of learning and using an Enterprise Architecture tool to define data requirements; including the data dictionary
o Data modeling; such as creating an Entity-Relationship-Diagram (ERD) is not a requirement
o Data Management expertise and concepts
o Capable of interacting with technical integration developers
o Experience with XML, fixed format and other data formats
o Basic SQL and ETL skills
Position is not expected to code or write complex SQL, but is expected to quickly learn how to use tools to view data during testing, etc.

• Detailed Oriented
o Position will oversee the definition of standard data models with complex data relationships
o Data standards include defining a common set of valid values between MES vendors (e.g. Gender code, County codes, etc.)

Education: - A four-year bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field
