METALLURGIST (Mini Mill)
Provide technical support and assistance to steelmaking operations and external customers through expert analysis of mill metallurgical processes and materials, identification of challenges, implementation of innovative solutions, and ongoing quality improvement initiative.
Design, execute and report on product development and quality improvement trials
Develop operating practices to produce quality steel products meeting or exceeding industry standards and customer requirements
Conduct ongoing analysis of manufacturing practices to monitor compliance and effectiveness
Interpret data and make recommendations to management team
Implement SPC techniques for quality and productivity enhancements
Investigate quality-related production issues and recommend cost-effective solutions
Manage disposition of material which does not meet quality requirements for intended application Provide assistance to maintenance or engineering on materials selection and fabrication techniques, as needed
Respond to external inquiries, develop production plans and certify material in cooperation with internal cross-functional teams
Represent company on external technical committees as required.
Conduct ongoing research and drive discovery with regard to best practices, industry innovations, and relevant competitive activities
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Reporting to the VP of Product and Market Development, this position will create and execute new business growth initiatives within strategic markets. This role presents an opportunity for a successful process or product development engineer to grow into a strategic business leadership position. Duties and Responsibilities:
Effectively communicate and coordinate between Process Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing personnel regarding the successful launch of new product platforms
Technically support strategic market initiatives in the field through extensive customer meetings and communications
Responsible for new product launches that will include coordination of pricing/profitability, competitive analysis as well as external technology assessments
Support Company’s broad global business with responsibilities that will include the coordination of domestic and international strategic programs. Both domestic and international travel
The Melt Shop Manager of Casting is responsible for all aspects of the steel casting operations. This includes all areas of safety, quality and production. The Manger of Casting oversees all aspects of the operations to ensure that production goals are met in a safe and efficient manner.
SR. RESEARCH ENGINEER-CONTINUOUS CASTING
Conducts research and development projects in the areas of process improvement and modeling pertaining to the continuous casting of steel slabs. Assists in the planning, execution and reporting of these projects. Responsible for analyzing and interpreting project results and recommending action
•Conducts specific tasks on assigned projects or complete projects of limited scope
•Interprets data and makes recommendations to Operations or Commercial management with limited guidance from supervisor or team leader
•Interacts with plant operating and technical services personnel on project or technical service activities (planning, execution and reporting)
•Assists in the design, execution and reporting of product/process development or quality improvement trials
•Prepares clear and concise written and oral reports as required. May present technical papers within and outside the company
•Provides technical direction and supervision to research technicians and/or coop students working on assigned projects
This metallurgist will work in the Metallurgy group for forging company. This individual will need to maintain a high level of quality for instructions and product review. Manage daily activities to stay on schedule for our product shipment. Develop good working relations with both internal and external customers.
Interface with Customers on matters pertaining to product quality and design
Interface with Material suppliers in matters pertaining to material quality and technical design
Review of processing data and determine if processing parameters conform to requirements
Failure Analysis and determination of cause and corrective actions
Review metallurgical test data and determine if additional testing or submits are needed; generate non-conformance repots if needed.
Forge Shop interaction’ Witness trial runs and participate in MRB activity and investigate any forging quality problems
Submit non-conformance and interface with customers in order to get customer approval of the product
Assist in daily shipments
Develop testing and cut up plans of products
Review cut up data and write reports; Yields information on process and provides feedback to customers
Provide instruction forge and heat treat shops; process parameters to run parts
Participate in new production introduction, cost reduction and continuous improvement activities
Improve product/process, productivity and cost.
As Process Metallurgist, your responsibilities will include providing technical support to both Primary and Rolling Operations, with emphasis on process and product improvement projects to enhance productivity, improve quality and reduce costs. Will plan and execute process and production enhancement trials based on performance analysis.
