Reporting to the Mansfield R/D Manager of Product Support (Sustaining Engineering) this role is to work within the franchise team to support the sports medicine business particularly within the implant product offerings. This individual’s primary role is to sustain the portfolio in order to maintain viability and compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements. While at the same time maintaining the quality of supply stream while addressing component obsolescence, supplier disruption and other manufacturability and engineering challenges. The candidate shall be self-motivated, results driven and creative, and shall exhibit keen problem solving and analytical skills.
Essential Job Functions:
Advances product updates necessary to support profitable sustainment
Will interface with both R/D development teams in Andover and Mansfield in both sustainment solutions and new product development
Participates in a technical team(s) by solving complex technical problems.
Assists in the development of solutions that will target manufacturability, cost structure, quality, reliability, and overall effectiveness
Provides technical support to other groups, as required, to bring projects successfully through completion
Will have varying responsibility of project leadership which may include working with external partners
Develops and participates in the development of project schedules and performs to those schedules
Will be responsible to develop and execute test procedures of product updates through an established design control process.
Limited travel as required
Experience with FDA Good Manufacturing Practice and MDD (MDR).
Experience with PLM tools, e.g., SAP, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
Experience with compliance and standards, e.g., ISO 14971, ISO 13485 and ISO 11135
Hands-on and demonstrated experience in the medical field; specifically in design control practices, sustaining engineering, and compliance engineering
Experience with productivity tools, Microsoft Office, etc.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
5 years of overall engineering experience with 2 or more years of experience specific to medical device industry preferred
Clinical knowledge of all types of arthroscopy procedures is desired
